The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams I wanted to claw my eyes out. I mean I think I get why it's a classic, but to me it's a wasteful classic. I could think of TONS of science fiction books that were written in the 70s (i.e. like William Sleator's House of Stairs...) that would run leaps and bounds over this book. It's senseless, cynical narrative about the Universe was complete drivel. I mean if I wanted to know the secrets of the Universe I'd read like L'Engle's work...Fahrenheit 451, The Giver, Brave New World...yeah...
